A full therapeutic assessment is carried out with the student before they are allocated a block of counselling. Our counselling sessions last for 50 minutes and are carried out on a weekly basis with one of our trained professionals. They provide an opportunity for students to express feelings without being judged and to work through some of the issues they may be facing in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment. All counselling sessions are confidential unless safeguarding issues arise where school policy for safeguarding will then be adhered to.
Topics that might be explored in counselling include:
- Complex Anxiety
- Bereavement and Loss
- DV history
- Depression and Low Mood
- Attachment
- Abuse
- Adverse childhood experiences (ACES)
- Self-harm
- Identity
Students are referred for counselling by their SSL but they can self-refer using our confidential wellbeing email service () or by attending the Wellbeing Drop-In on a Monday after school 3.15-4.00 in the Wellbeing Centre.
